The new resort collection by Ksenia Sсhnaider is inspired by the Eastern European beachwear. The mixture of styles there is unlike anything else. To describe it in a few words — it's “over the top”, but also “unique”.

“You can see all kinds of things at a resort in Ukraine. Girls wearing cheetah dresses alongside naked children in panama hats running around. $1 Boss bags to carry the towel. A middle aged man wearing hawaiian shirts, bermudas and sandals on top of mid-calf socks. Lots of things to pick up” says Ksenia.

People that grew up in the Soviet Union have a habit of always wearing their best attire anywhere they go. Often at the expence of comfort and/or common sense. For Resort 2019 Ksenia Schnaider is taking that aesthetic and turning it into something comfortable and relevant.

The key visual elements of the collection are the graphics. To accent the visual overdose, Anton Schnaider came up with a series of different prints. Souvenir-type T-shirt featuring Antons photography of seasides, shirts with Hawaiian prints in uncommon variations and navigators which lead you to Ksenia Schnaider street. The most symbolic of all are the seaside pictures which were taken chaotically and retouched with a built-in post-production tool. The result is as random as a picture can be, just like the atmosphere at a Black Sea Resort.

In the midi soundtrack with a robot reciting of the lyrics you are unwillingly noticing the echoes of Paradisio, Nelly and Jennifer Lopez. An unlikely sonic mix of the future and the past was created by Anton Schnaider to complement the collection. The invites to the catwalk show, meanwhile, were simply replaced by the designers’ holiday photographs.
